Washington, D.C.— The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) issued the following statement after the Senate voted 53-47 to confirm Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as Supreme Court Justice.
The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans congratulates Judge Jackson for her confirmation as Supreme Court Justice and celebrates this historic moment.
“Judge Jackson has defended her qualifications with grace through an arduous and grueling confirmation process. We celebrate with Judge Jackson as she makes history as the first Black woman confirmed as a Supreme Court Justice, a moment which is long overdue,” said Gregg Orton, National Director of NCAPA. “While much work still remains to achieve racial and gender justice, this is a landmark moment that we should all take time to appreciate as a reminder that progress is possible.”
