NCAPA National Director Gregg Orton issued the following statement:

The Trump tax plan proves that no amount of pain and suffering on everyday Americans is too much when it comes to the pursuit of making the rich even richer. Even children and future generations aren’t safe as trillions more in debt is a problem for future America to deal with.

Recent survey data indicates this tax bill is at odds with the priorities and views of most Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders. That is because our resilience has been rooted in community and collective success. We believe that our tax system should be fair.

The Trump economic agenda is fundamentally at odds with this despite what they claim.

When they say, “it’s good for America,” they really mean it’s good for the wealthiest among us.

When they claim, “America first,” they really mean their interests first.

Winning for them means crossing the finish line while destroying public education, making healthcare less affordable and the cost of living more expensive. Creating fiscal gaps for states and economic desperation for the most vulnerable are bills that will eventually come due in one form or another.
