Washington, D.C. — The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) welcomes Stop AAPI Hate to its coalition of 47 member organizations.

Stop AAPI Hate is a national coalition fighting against racism and racial injustice targeting Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Since 2020, Stop AAPI Hate has tracked anti-Asian hate acts and published data and findings on how Asian Americans across the country experience racism. Their work includes a recent report that reviewed over 11,000 acts of hate and discrimination against Asian Americans since March 2020, and they routinely share policy recommendations to elected officials and community groups on how to bring an end to anti-Asian scapegoating.

“We are thrilled to welcome Stop AAPI Hate to NCAPA. They have done tremendous work over the last few years to fight for a safe space for our community,” said Gregg Orton, National Director of NCAPA. “Their leadership has been instrumental, and I’m excited to work with them to create systems that dismantle racism and bigotry in our communities.”

“We are excited that Stop AAPI Hate – and by extension, AAPI Equity Alliance – have the opportunity to join NCAPA. Over the years, NCAPA and its members have played a critical role in shaping federal policy for AAPIs. We look forward to working closely with members of the coalition to share the experiences of AAPIs as we address the myriad needs of our community members through advocacy at the federal level,” stated Manjusha P. Kulkarni, Executive Director of AAPI Equity Alliance.

“Stop AAPI Hate, and by extension Chinese for Affirmative Action, is thrilled to be formally joining NCAPA as a member. NCAPA has played a critical role in advancing justice and equity for our diverse communities at the federal level. Given the current political climate and what’s at stake for our communities, it is imperative that we join forces for greater impact,” commented Cynthia Choi, Co-Executive Director for Chinese for Affirmative Action and Co-Founder of Stop AAPI Hate.

Based in Washington, D.C., the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans is a coalition of forty-seven national Asian Pacific American organizations that represent the interests of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities and to provide a national voice for our communities’ concerns.
