RELEASE DATE

January 22nd, 2023

The member organizations of the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans join together in mourning the horrific loss in Monterey Park, CA. Lunar New Year marks an important cultural holiday for many Asian Americans and to have a day of celebration be upended by staggering violence leaves us heartbroken.

We thank the first responders on the ground, as well as the White House, various government agencies and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, all of whom have been in touch.

Make no mistake: there will be a time to demand action. However, right now, there are 10 families who will never be the same, and an entire local community that needs our love and support.

Based in Washington, D.C., the National Council ofAsian Pacific Americans is a coalition of thirty-eight national Asian Pacific American organizations that represent the interests of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities and to provide a national voice for our communities’ concerns.
