11:00 – 11:15 AM ET / Opening Remarks
11:15 AM- 12:30 PM ET / Privacy in Our Technology Driven World:
The conversation around tech privacy has largely focused on the responsibility of the big tech companies in safeguarding customer personal data: the ability of third parties to access where we go, what we do and how we spend our money. Largely, the focus has been on how these companies use our data and who they can provide access to. The emergence of two recent trends, however, have reshaped the tech privacy conversation: ransomware attacks and NSO Group’s Pegasus spyware. Personal data is more vulnerable than ever to outside actors accessing our data without our knowledge for nefarious purposes. What can tech companies do to protect the personal data of their consumers against increasingly sophisticated spyware software and ransomware attacks? How can Americans best safeguard themselves and their businesses from these vulnerabilities? What is the best approach to combating these trends?
12:30 – 12:45 PM ET / Break
12:45 – 2:00 PM ET / Tech Leading in the World of Content:
The entertainment industry is quickly becoming synonymous with the tech industry. This panel will discuss the dramatic shift in how Americans view and consume entertainment on many tech platforms, as well as how content producers have increasingly turned to tech in distributing their content. How has this impacted the way studios think about content production and distribution? What are the implications of tech and entertainment companies becoming increasingly synonymous? What does this mean for AANHPI-led content? How do tech platforms empower individual creators to develop and build their own audience?
2:00 – 2:15 PM ET / Break
2:15 – 3:30 PM ET / Silicon Valley’s Bamboo Ceiling
The belief in the model minority is prevalent throughout the tech industry with AANHPIs comprising nearly a quarter of the workforce in many tech companies. Therefore, AANHPIs are often left out of the diversity and inclusion conversations. Yet, according to a 2017 Ascend study, AAPIs face a variety of the same roadblocks as other minorities in tech, particularly in regard to leadership positions. How are tech companies working to address the issues of pay gaps and cultivation of AANHPI leaders? What role does diversity play in developing inclusive and accessible products for the entire marketplace?
3:30 – 3:45 PM ET / Break
3:45 – 5:00 PM ET / Manufacturing the Future Tech
With the dawn of 5G and exponential increase in demand for semiconductors, there has been an increased need for investment in advanced manufacturing. The infrastructure bill represents an opportunity to expand American technological and manufacturing capabilities. What impact will onshoring efforts have on the manufacturing capabilities in the US? How do companies plan to address the need for increased components in the expansion of the 5G network? What other industries are impacted by the slowdown in the global supply chain? What role will the infrastructure play in addressing these issues?
5:00 – 5:15 PM ET / Closing Remarks
