Census Outreach Toolkit

View our AAPI Census outreach toolkit

Why does the Census matter?

The Census is an opportunity for our communities to receive our fair share of political representation and funding. Participating in the 2020 Census helps determine funding for school lunches, poll site language assistance, medical facilities, reproductive health programs, and much more for the next decade.

Everyone counts. One in five Asian Americans and one in three Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders live in hard-to-count areas. We must act to make sure all our communities are counted in the 2020 Census!

Language Access and the Census

The 2020 Census is available online and by phone in 13 languages: English, Arabic, Chinese, French, Haitian Creole, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Tagalog, and Vietnamese. Video and print guidelines for filling out the Census are also available in 59 non-English languages.

Questions about the Census? Call the AAPI Census Hotline at: (844) 2020-API or (844) 202-0274

  • English, Mandarin (普通話), Cantonese (廣東話), Korean (한국어), Vietnamese (tiếng Việt), Tagalog, Urdu  (اردو), Hindi (हिंदी), and Bengali/Bangla (বাংলা)
  • Staffed live from 8:30am – 8:30pm EST
  • For all other times, voicemail messages will be returned in 24-48 hours
