Following a vote at its most recent Executive Director meeting, NCAPA welcomed four new member organizations to the coalition.

The coalition inducted Asian and Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE), the Asian Pacific American Public Affairs Association (APAPA), Asian & Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation (APIAHiP), and Hindus for Human Rights.

“We are thrilled to bring all of these wonderful organizations into the NCAPA coalition. They are outstanding leaders whose presence and expertise will help make our collective work stronger. We look forward to working with them to build power and grow our capacity – especially with the growing number of attacks on civil rights, education and our communities,” said Gregg Orton, National Director at NCAPA. “With our new members, NCAPA is in an even stronger position to tackle these challenges. We’ll continue boldly advocating for our communities and making sure AANHPIs have a seat at every table.”

“Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE) is excited to join the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) and be part of a coalition that is united in advancing the rights and opportunities for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities (AA & NHPI). Together, we can improve educational outcomes and shape a more inclusive future for AA & NHPI students across our higher education institutions by removing barriers due to intersecting issues of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, and immigration,” said Dr. Rowena M. Tomaneng, President of Asian Pacific Americans in Higher Education (APAHE).

Mary Yin Liu, Chief Executive Officer of APAPA, said, “Asian Pacific American Public Affairs (APAPA) is excited to join NCAPA and collaborate with its 40 AANHPI organizations across the country. Our leadership team is committed to advancing the interests of our communities by shaping policies, raising cultural awareness, and strengthening partnerships. Together, we aim to achieve positive and meaningful changes that will benefit and protect our vibrant communities.”

Huy Pham, Executive Director of Asian Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation (APIAHiP), said, “APIAHiP is thrilled to join NCAPA members and leadership in shaping policies and securing resources that empower Asian and Pacific Islander American communities. Together, we aim to ensure that our cultural heritage remains a cornerstone of our collective identity and future.”

“Hindus for Human Rights is honored to join the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans. As a progressive South Asian American organization championing inclusive and pluralistic Hindu identities, we look forward to working in solidarity with this diverse coalition to advance our shared values of justice and human dignity,” said Sunita Viswanath, Executive Director of Hindus for Human Rights. “Our presence at the table ensures that this faith tradition can serve as a catalyst for bold, inclusive action in the AA and NHPI communities and beyond.”

Based in Washington, D.C., the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans is a coalition of forty-four national Asian Pacific American organizations. We represent the interests of Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) communities and provide a national voice for our communities’ concerns.
