The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans Releases Framework for Its 2020 Policy Platform
Washington, DC—The National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA) released a framework for its 2020 Policy Platform to the public. NCAPA, through its policy committees, produces a broad policy platform that spans across issues from civil rights and immigration, to health and education every four years. The platform is shared with Congress, political parties and presidential candidates as a means to encourage more meaningful engagement with the Asian American and Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander community. The 2020 Platform is scheduled to be released early next year.
NCAPA National Director, Gregg Orton stated:“The framework for our 2020 Policy Platform marks a starting point—not the culmination—of the broader AAPI community’s effort to be heard and seen throughout 2020.
This framework should be seen as a guide for those looking to learn about the issues that affect our community; a refresher for those who have engaged with us in the past; and finally, as a reminder to all that our community should not—and will not be ignored. Our issues matter and we intend to make our voices heard.
We invite all lawmakers, all candidates and the public at large to use this framework to begin a conversation, and also encourage everyone to look forward to the release of the larger platform next year.”
